Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Emergency Department secretary/monitor technician provides clerical support to the nurses, physicians, and Department Director. In

addition to the timely and efficient initiation of patient care orders; he/she is responsible for coordinating communication within the department and hospital. He/she will maintain par levels of necessary office and chart supplies and follow through with equipment repair and maintenance.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• BLS Certification
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Previous acute care hospital experience
• Previous experience as unit secretary/monitor technician
• Basic Dysrhythmia Course
