This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of Newborn Medicine to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals.

I. Teaching 10% 
1. Participate in the development and implementation of specific undergraduate curricula in Newborn Medicine. 
2. Participate directly in Pediatric and Family Practice residency training related to Newborn Medicine. 
3. Participate in continuing education programs in Neonatology and Newborn Medicine for both the clinical faculty and for practicing physicians in the area. 
4. Serve as a role model for students and residents as a teacher and practicing Neonatologist, including supervision and instruction to 3rd and 4th year medical students. 

II. Service (Patient Care) 80% 
1. Set an example to future practitioners of highly-skilled and conscientious practice of Newborn Medicine that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities. Provide backup and attendance at all high-risk deliveries, when requested. Provide service as attending physician at the Level III Nursery at St. John's Children's' Hospital and Memorial Medical Center, including in-house call. 
2. Maintain a clinical practice in Newborn Medicine in order to enhance clinical proficiency. 
3. Participate in peer reviews for assessing clinical practice skills for the faculty within the Division, as requested by the Division Chief. 

III. Administration 5%
1. Serve on such committees as may be assigned by the Division Chief, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics or Dean of the School of Medicine. 
2. Participate in quality assurance programs as assigned by the Director. 
3. Represent the Division in regional, state, and national matters pertaining to Newborn Medicine. 
4. Attend national meetings and symposia in Newborn Medicine and related fields for the purpose of contribution, acquisition of additional knowledge, and as an example to other physicians. 
5. Fulfill the responsibilities in the Advanced Practice Nurse Collaborative Agreement. 

IV. Research 5% 
1. Promote scholarly activities to enhance the academic environment of the Division. 
2. Promote development of academic or research activities in the Division, related to Newborn Medicine

? MD or equivalent degree 
? Board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics 
? Board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
? Eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois 
? Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
