Position Overview
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the Ohio State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor appointment for an eight-week course in Summer 2026.
Performance Objectives
Teach an eight-week course in Heritage Spanish Teaching Methodology in an online platform
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Spanish, Foreign and Second Language Teaching, or related discipline
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish, and English and proficiency with Heritage Spanish
Record of excellence in teaching Heritage Spanish
Strong understanding of current best practices in second language pedagogy and superior language teaching skills; familiarity with ACTFL standards
Desired:
Experience with outreach to Heritage Spanish-speakers in local high schools
Familiarity with synchronous online tools for language teaching
Candidates should demonstrate attentiveness to building an intellectual community in alignment with Ohio States shared values
