STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATOR (TEMPORARY)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) supports the work of the Academic Chair of the Department of Business and Management and is responsible for academic advising and retention activities during the student's academic life cycle. The SSC collaborates with Enrollment Management on the recruitment of prospective students, with the Academic Resource Center (ARC) to support student success, and with the Registrar's Office to ensure compliance in policies and clear pathways for obtaining a Vanguard education. This position collaborates with the Division Administrative Coordinator (DAC) and reports to the Chair of the Department of Business and Management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support Chair/Faculty
Assist the Chair in providing student-focused leadership for the continuous quality improvement of business programs in accordance with the institutional vision, mission, and educational goals.
Work with the Chair and faculty in reviewing program changes and curriculum development for the DBM.
Assist the Chair with conflict management involving students.
Work with the Chair and faculty in reviewing program changes and assist with the course catalog and course schedule.
Perform other duties as delegated by the Chair of the Department of Business and Management.
Support Students
Provide academic and career advisement and registration assistance for TUG students including student's understanding of degree requirements and options within the 4-year plans.
Assist re-entrant students by utilizing transcript evaluation to provide academic advising in support of successful re-entry into the business major.
Coordinate orientation meetings for new students and informational meetings, as needed, for continuing students.
Maintain appropriate administrative records including 4-year plans, registration checklists, and confidential student files.
Monitor regularly distributed enrollment, retention, and other data reports from IR, IT and Enrollment Management.
Monitor students in application for graduation.
Facilitate communication and advocate for students in the division with Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar and Accounting Operations to ensure timely progress to degree.
Collaborate with Career Services on placement of students in research and internship programs and ensure DBM students are familiar with the Career 4-year plans for each major.
Coordinate, conduct, and analyze exit interviews with graduates; prepare reports of exit interview data and key findings for the purpose of current program evaluation and planning for future programs.
Support Retention, Recruiting and Reporting
Assess students' academic readiness, advise the Chair regarding student needs for remediation and intervention, and recommend appropriate academic success strategies.
Become proficient in the use of Degree Tracker. Advise, and Vanguard tools to forecast, monitor, and ensure student persistence with the goal of increasing overall retention and completion rates.
Represent the DBM at student recruiting, advising, and orientation events including presenting the department to prospective students.
Collaborate with the Registrar's Office on implementing and maintaining revisions to academic degree audits in Eullican Colleague and Student Planner
Become proficient and certified in TES® and Transferology LabTM.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Baccalaureate degree required, with program management experience, preferably in a business organization or educational setting.
Excellent communications skills – verbal and written.
Efficient technology skills in word processing, database, e-mail and Internet applications.
Organizational and administrative skills; the ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to initiate systems and processes for effective program management, student advisement and retention.
Knowledge and acceptance of principles and philosophies of Vanguard University, its programs and requirements.
Personal commitment to Christian faith and practice.
SALARY:
Temporary position – July 1, 2022 to December 23, 2022. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
