JOB SUMMARY
The Advancement Office and Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPRe) are seeking a Grant Administrator to support fundraising efforts from government and foundation sources. This position provides post-award support for federal and non-federal grants to University principal investigators (PIs) by researching, interpreting, and applying the Universitys policies and procedures that govern grant, contract and foundation awards. They will work closely with the grant accountant in the Finance department to track accounting and financial reporting.
Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Grants Specialist/Assistant Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, the Grant Administrator will also research, identify and write grant proposals that meet the organizations general operating needs and are consistent with the Spalding University mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
Salary range for this position is $43,000 - $48,000 yearly with a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical coverage, 403b, 23 Paid Time Off days, 21 Holidays, tuition remission, and much more.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Award Management (60%):
- Provide administrative support and management of federal and non-federal grants in collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs), departmental administrators, and the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPRe).
- Responsible for oversight of post-award grant and contract administration including implementing appropriate policies, processes, and controls to comply with regulations, funding agency policies, and Spalding University internal policies.
- Enter budget information into the online system Projects Accounting and help PIs track expenditures throughout the grant period
- Review and approve grant expenditures for adequate documentation and compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure award budgets are fully spent, but not exceeded.
- Assist PIs/departments and grant accountant with the submission of financial reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and close-outs for all grants and sponsored programs.
- Maintain grant and contract data.
- Support grant and contract accountability infrastructure.
Proposal Development (40%):
- Research, identify and write grant proposals that meet the organizations needs.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of OSPRe to identify funding opportunities.
- Primarily responsible for general operating grants in the range of $5,000 - $15,000.
- Assist in Special Events and other fundraising activities as needed.
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree and three years experience with grant writing and/or grants management (an equivalent combination of education, training and/or other experience may be substituted).
- Experience working in higher education a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal Accounting Guidelines.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, university, departmental, and sponsor policies.
- Proven organizational skills in finance and administration.
- Experience with financial management software and/or Customer Relationship Management software.
- Ability to work alone and complete large tasks in specified time periods.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
- Must be detailed and results-oriented.
