Oversee the IT Student Employment program to provide outstanding experiential learning opportunities for IC students and in support of our IT services for the campus community. Partner with IT leadership and other student managers across the college to develop and implement a comprehensive IT student employment program which provides hands-on working experiences in IT combined with student professional and leadership development. Develop and maintain consistent student employment policies and procedures and coordinate and manage the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision for 80 – 100 student assistants working in more than 12 areas across all of Information Technology. Maintain the student employment budget and process payroll data and information. Coordinate, develop, and communicate student technology services to campus partners. Coordinate professional development opportunities and events for IT student employees in collaboration with full time supervisors and student leaders and as appropriate coordinate joint student / staff training engagements.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT student employment program that provides hands-on working experiences in IT combined with student professional and leadership development opportunities. Partner with IT leadership and other campus student managers as appropriate to take a holistic approach to providing experiential professional and leadership learning opportunities and development programs for our student employees.
- Manage the Information Technology (IT) student staff resources to include recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, coaching, and mentoring over 80 student employees working in more than 12 areas across all areas within the IT department.
- Responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the student services employment, and expenses budgets.
- Process student payroll and manage employee information through the campus Human Resources/Payroll and Financial Services system and IT scheduling and payroll system.
- Develop internal documentation, workshops, tools and contribute to the creation of knowledge base information for student employees to use in providing service to the campus community.
- Coordinate student employment policies, procedures, and processes with the full time student supervisors, student staff, and student leaders. Provide leadership and direction for all student employee related matters.
- Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
- Develop a general knowledge on IT software packages, hardware, and Ithaca College Information Systems.
- Create, edit, and produce student employee and student oriented documentation, both paper-based and Web based formats.
- Identify, research, develop, and implement new student services and department initiatives including evaluating and recommending new products and applications to enhance and improve student support services.
- Develop and provide information, documentation, and presentations for student focused services and special events including first year orientation and online registration.
- Solicit feedback from the current IT student employees and IT student employee program alumni to better understand the impact, if any, of meaningful IT student employment engagements on a student’s sense of connection and belonging to IC.
- Coordinate IT student staff resources for special events such as Educational Technology Day.
- Assist with project work as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years previous customer service, human resource management, or student leadership or development experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; previous supervisory experience, strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills and high attention to detail; excellent customer service, ability to develop and implement programs and events in collaboration with colleagues; self-motivated, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and quickly adapt to change; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment required. Previous experience working with students in a college or university setting and student leadership experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment, with the availability of partial remote work as well. The incumbent may be required to operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as computer printers as well as other office equipment used in day-to-day operations.
