About Eastern Washington University:

Job Summary:
- Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a self-motivated, independent worker for a Truck Driver 1 - Floating Schedule position. Positions in this level perform various duties including interdepartmental moves, recycle collection and processing, refuse collection and support of Event Planning functions and set ups as well as other functions associated within these areas. Due to the main focus of this department this is a floating schedule position and to qualify candidates must be available to work a wide range of days and hours.

Required Qualifications:
- Valid motor vehicle drivers license.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Physical ability to do the job.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to work any shifts and any days.
- Must be able to read, write and understand written documents.
- Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification and experience driving forklifts.
- Able to work overtime/extended hours on occasion.
- Previous moving experience e.g. (Furniture, Boxes, Pallets, other materials)
- Previous experience operating refuse collection vehicles e.g. (Rotator truck)
- Previous experience operating a commercial recycling baler.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to prioritize daily duties.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be a team-oriented worker with flexibility to assist fellow coworkers throughout campus.

Responsibility / Duty: Operate a variety of motorized equipment such as: pickups, passenger and cargo vans, flat bed trucks, step vans, fork lifts, and other vehicles used to transport equipment, materials, and supplies.

Responsibility / Duty: Load into vehicle and deliver a variety of items such as: supplies, furniture, staging, paper products, and equipment.

Responsibility / Duty: Perform minor maintenance tasks on all motorized equipment including weekly equipment operation and fluid level checks.

Responsibility / Duty: May transport passengers in support of university needs, perform minor maintenance to service vehicles including washing and waxing. Perform custodial duties as needed.

Conditions of Employment:
- Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-placement physical.
- This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
- All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
- This position is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary Information: $40,308 - $45,300
