Job Summary:
Building Maintenance's Housing division is looking for a Maintenance Lead Worker. Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in building and plant maintenance involving a variety of work such as: HVAC, carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, and other work as required. Some of the job duties include:
- Point of contact for specified east side housing buildings
- Reads blueprints, building plans, and drawings to determine equipment required and sequence of installments.
- Inspects structure prior to installation of pipe to determine obstructions to be avoided.
- Locates and marks position of pipe/pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
- Cuts openings in walls/floors for pipes and pipe fittings and closes and fireproofs openings.
- Cuts, threads, bends, and joins pipes.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.
- Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, i.e., sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, etc.
- Repairs and maintains domestic hot/cold water distribution system, return line, pipes, sewers and showers.
- Performs a variety of carpentry tasks in the construction and maintenance of buildings and other facilities.
- Performs a variety of HVAC tasks in the maintenance of buildings and other facilities.
- Assists with snow and ice removal during winter months.
- Cleans equipment room as required.
- Assists grounds maintenance crew as required.
- Purchases maintenance supplies as required.
- Performs other related duties.
A background check is required.
Facilities Employees must be required to report at their regularly scheduled work times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties. Occasional overtime and ability to work 2nd and 3rd shift as required.
