The Workforce Education Training Specialist will provide support to the Workforce Programs as a member of the Workforce Education Center (WEC). Under the direction of the Director for Workforce Education Center, the Workforce Education Training Specialist will be responsible for providing direct student services and supporting students in their pursuit of a technical or professional credential. Primary responsibilities are evaluation for eligibility, awarding resources, documentation, and student interaction in support of Worker Retraining, BFET, and/or Workfirst programs.
This position reports to the Director for Workforce Education Center.
This position is receiving applications until April 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. The College will conduct initial interviews with selected candidates via Zoom and will conduct on-campus interviews with finalists.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for direct-to-student services including intake, screening for eligibility, program orientation, academic counseling, career consultation, resource navigation, strategic co-enrollment, and awarding;
- Complete documentation including data entry into third-party state systems, internal documentation, verifying student-submitted forms, general application reviews, award posting, award tracking, follow-up, and coding;
- Participate in decision-making, individually or as part of a committee, pertaining to student financial awards, access to supports, textbook lending, emergency assistance, strategic co-enrollment, and program eligibility;
- Promote WEC programs and CBC professional/technical programs at CBC and external events including Advisory Committee meetings, Wellness Fairs, CBC Open Houses, class presentations, and outside informational events;
- Reconcile and verify student coding, funding awards, and other documentation between data systems (e.g. ctclink, FileMaker) and departments (i.e. Financial Aid);
- Support all WEC programs with data sharing, direct collaboration, promotion, and effort;
- Assist students with compliance and completion of L&I documentation, training benefits documentation, and other forms as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
- Two (2) years of recent experience working with students;
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills within a structured environment;
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team;
- Computer skills necessary to perform position's responsibilities; and
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of recent experience working with students within a workforce education program.
