Position Details:
Summary of Duties
Under general supervision, the HRCA 1 or 2 position independently provides paraprofessional human resource (HR) support to the Office of Human Resources at Washington State University Vancouver. As the first point of contact for wide array of HR issues, the Human Resources Consultant Assistant 1 or 2 creates a professional and responsive service experience that is reflective of the WSU Vancouver vision. This position uses multiple channels of communication to address issues for employees, visitors, alumni, students, and the wider community.
Provides support in the areas of Workday transactions and maintenance, recruitment and selection, hiring/onboarding/orientation, general HR administration, records management, event planning, classification and compensation, employee relations, and employee benefits. Will always maintain and ensure a confidential environment.
Apply established human resource guidelines, rules, policies, and procedures to administrative professional (AP), classified staff (CS), temporary/hourly employees and or faculty members.
Required Qualifications
Depending on your level of experience and education, this position will begin as either a Human Resources Consultant Assistant 1 (HRCA 1) or Human Resources Consultant Assistant 2 (HRCA 2).
HRCA 1
Three (3) years of office experience including at least six (6) months of experience in a human resource or related setting OR equivalent education/experience.
HRCA 2
Four (4) years of office experience including two (2) years of experience in a human resource OR related setting OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Qualifications for HRCA 1 and HRCA 2
Demonstrated experience providing customer service through multiple communication channels, such as in person, virtual (Teams/Zoom), email or over the phone.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications for HRCA 1 and HRCA 2
Working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), classification and compensation practices and recruitment practices.
Experience with electronic HR (HRIS, ATS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Experience providing administrative support to multiple individuals.
Experience in human resource functions such as benefits, recruitment, classification, compensation, employee/labor relations and training/development.
Experience presenting group orientations and/or trainings.
Higher Education and/or public sector experience.

Monthly and Annual Salary
HRCA 1: $2,957 to $3,821 per month; $35,484 to $45,852 per year.
HRCA 2: $3,401 to $4,425 per month; $40,812 to $53,100 per year.
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28, https://apps.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=357-28.
This position is eligible for a hiring incentive up to $4000. Current WSU employees may be eligible for a referral bonus in accordance with WSU policy https://hrs.wsu.edu/employees/benefits/employees-benefits-total-compensation-package/hiring-incentive/
