Position Summary
The research technician supports research activities in the lab of Dr. Lauren Chen by assisting in conducting nucleic acid experiments and assisting in the day to day operations of the lab.
This position is comprised of 70% in-person work and 30% remote work and is hiring between $15.97 per hour and $24.72 per hour.

Essential Functions
- Assists in conducting research and experiments
- Performs NGS sequencing, which includes library preparation, SPRI purification, NGS sequencing operations, etc.
- Perform nucleic acid experiments including extraction, purification, quality control, PCR, qPCR, primer preparation, etc.
- Collects, tracks, and analyzes data
- Assists in the setup of the laboratory and day-to-day laboratory technical operations including promoting safety, maintaining equipment, and preparing reagents
- Monitors and maintains repository of clinical samples and reagents
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Five years of related experience in PCR and qPCR with a minimum of one year of wet lab experience
- Skills Required
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software, Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in relevant math and research skills
- Good organization skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to listen and communicate (verbal, written)
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Ability to conduct evaluate and analyze data
- Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards
Substitutions
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field
- Experience with NGS sequencing
