Job Summary:
The Assistive Technology Access Specialist fields questions about electronic devices, software programs, and assistive and adaptive equipment designed for students to hear, see, capture, recall, or otherwise aid in students accessing courses and educational content. They research new or emerging technologies and their application to student use. Tinkering with equipment and computer programs to test accessibility features and push limits of functionality to adapt usage to a variety of student needs is part of this job. They also create how-to guides and presentations on using equipment and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Communications or a related field is required; an equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute for degree. One year full-time equivalent experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or who utilize assistive technology is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to understand and hear phonetically
• Ability to process spoken (auditory) information accurately and transcribe information into written format
• Expert knowledge of, and ability to use, Assistive Technology
• Ability to train others in the use of Assistive Technology
• Excellent English language skills
• Proficiency using personal computer, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications
• Effective presentation skills
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone, fax, copier
• Strong time management skills with ability to meet deadlines with high quality work
