The WKU Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success (CEVSS) Coordinator will work with the program director and the Military Student Services office to establish and coordinate the CEVSS at WKU. This is a grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon funding/need.

This position will focus on

• Developing strategic outreach plans to students, both in person and online, faculty, staff, prospective students, and the community.
• Fostering a network of support for military and veteran students, within WKU and also within the community, to include state, federal, not for profit organizations, businesses, and other groups which may benefit our student's success in but not limited to the following areas, academic, emotional/mental health, career development, volunteerism, financial wellbeing, housing, etc.
• Establishing military and veteran student specific orientation at WKU
• Creating a campus culture of trust and connectedness across the campus community to promote well-being and success of veterans, to include hosting events, creating mentorship program, fostering a network of faculty and staff who are military or veterans, providing support and guidance for the student veteran organization on campus, etc.
• Program review, tracking and analyzing data regarding outcomes of the grant, and other evaluative and reporting responsibilities
• Researching and planning regarding securing continued funding support for the CEVSS at WKU, beyond the period of the grant, to include institutional support, future grants, and philanthropic support.
• Create a pathway for prospective students to initiate interaction with WKU and navigate the university experience. The position will coordinate with the military student support team at WKU, to ensure prospective and current students are referred to the resources they need, when they need it. The coordinator will also ensure that outreach to the students is timely, detailed, clear, and relevant to their situation and their needs.
• The coordinator will also assist Military Student Services with providing student support, such as helping students navigate the use of tuition assistance, to include assisting with the interfacing of the university with the tuition assistance portals, and helping students take the necessary steps within them to successfully utilize their tuition assistance benefits. The coordinator will also be knowledgeable in Veteran Affairs education benefits to help advise students on their options and what steps they need to take.
• Work directly with the Military Student Support Specialist position at WKU Fort Knox, and the Student Services and Outreach Coordinator of other regional WKU campus, to ensure that the students on those campuses and those online students that are served through those units also well supported and connected to the CEVSS model program and its initiatives, programs, and support network.

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least two years' experience working directly with military and veteran connected students in higher education.
• Understand military education benefits, such as TA and VA, as well as a familiarity with military culture and understanding of challenge and strategies for improving student success.
• Attention to detail and self-motivated with the ability to work well with others as well as alone

Salary Range: $35,568 - $40,000
