The Building Environmental Technician performs under the direction of the Building Environmental Services (BES) Zone Supervisor.
1. Maintain equipment inventory and repair records. 2. Compile maintenance checklist and report needs to BES Zone Supervisor. 3. Complete individual duties and responsibilities as assigned; check the work of other crew members and correct deficiencies. 4. Test and suggest recommendations on supply and equipment purchases.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, two years of experience demonstrating the ability to operate specialized floor-cleaning or other cleaning equipment and in performing medium to heavy physical work; or three years of experience as a housekeeper; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalency. 2. Two years' experience demonstrating the ability to operate specialized floor-cleaning or other cleaning equipment and in performing medium to heavy physical work; or three years of experience as a housekeeper; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. 3. Ability to properly use and care for all manual and power equipment and chemicals required in Building Environmental Services and floor care functions. 4. Supervisory experience desired. 5. Strong customer service orientation. 6. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required. 7. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication are required. 8. Computer literate. 9. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs required. 10. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 11. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 12. The selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the position's essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
