GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.

I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines.

The Information Technology Division of Lehman College is responsible for technology delivery, leadership, and innovation to achieve Lehman's strategic vision of transforming lives and communities.

Reporting to the Director of IT Enterprise Application Services, the IT Associate Level 3 (Enterprise Application Developer) will perform and develop a wide variety of web-based and enterprise

applications tasks (internal, mobile and third party), to be used by the college community. Lehman College full-time employees have a 35- hours workweek.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

??? Architect, design, develop, test, integrate and debug Java applications. Ensures applications are designed to ensure compliance with security, data integrity and web accessibility.

??? Responsible for continued development and maintenance of Lehman 360, Lehman Mobile App, ProcessMaker business automation, and a variety of other Lehman applications

??? In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Web Application Services, responsible for the continued development and maintenance of the commercial Content Management System technology, TerminalFour.

??? Collaborate with business owners/ stakeholders from across the college to integrate new features and enhancements to existing websites and data-driven applications. Constantly seeks and maintains and understanding of the various College???s business processes and applies expertise to solve technical problems.

??? Investigate and resolve application issues and bottlenecks. Collaborate and coordinate with teams from different specialized areas of IT. Actively contribute to team standards. Mentor junior team members.

??? Research and recommend trends in the information technology areas geared towards enhancing the academic experience of the student community.

??? Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable code)

??? Participate in vendors selection process.

??? Perform other related duties as assigned.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates who are permanent IT Assistants, applied for the promotional IT Assistant, Exam #2070 or the open-competitive IT Assistant, Exam #2071 are preferred.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
2. An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

??? Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

??? Proven experience with Java, PHP, JavaScript, JavaScript libraries, AJAX, Python, Linux, MacOS, CSS, CSS3, SQL, Windows, and others.

??? Strong front-end development. Experience working with Oracle 12c or higher and Oracle WebLogic

??? Proven experience querying databases and developing data-driven applications.

??? Solid knowledge of the system development lifecycle (SDLC)

??? Experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS). Experience developing website templates and new components while applying best practices UI design.

??? Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, Section 508 compliance, ADA, general

web functions, web, and security standards

??? Ability to work closely with technical teams to document, test and assure business requirements are met. Experience writing manuals and guides for web-based and enterprise applications.

??? Ability to communicate technical information to end users and to translate business requirements into technical functionalities.

??? Knowledge of Adobe Suite products, Microsoft Office 365, Terminal Four CMS, java IDEs and ProcessMaker.

??? Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to applications.

??? Proven experience working independently and in small and large teams.

??? Knowledge of Web Services, APIs, and Business Intelligence tools

??? Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a high demand environment.

??? Ability to learn and transition to new technologies as required.

??? Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis. Ability to identify opportunities and improve current processes.

COMPENSATION

$89,639
