FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. In 2019, LaGuardia served over 30,000 students in pre-college, associate degree, and continuing education programs. Major areas of study include Health Sciences, STEM, Business and Technology, and Liberal Arts. Consistent with the diversity of Queens, 56 percent of LaGuardia students are born outside of the United States. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest come from Brooklyn and beyond. Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (88 percent), 58 percent are women, and 31 percent are over the age of 25. The Film & TV Program at LaGuardia Community College is seeking an adjunct to teach a class in Postproduction: Effects, Color and Audio for the Spring II Semester beginning June 22 nd until August 8 th .

This course builds on the foundation of DV production and non-linear editing offered in Video Production I, and focuses on special effects, color correction, and digital audio editing. Students utilize more advanced tools and techniques of post-production, such as Adobe After Effects (compositing with green screen, 2D & 3D graphics animation), SpeedGrade (color correction), and Audition (noise reduction). A final short-form video expressively integrates content creation and digital technology.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Adjunct Assistant Professor

M.F.A., Master of Professional Studies, or equivalent terminal degree in digital media or related discipline. Professional experience in fields such as game design, web design and development, animation and interactivity, graphics and scripting, video capture, editing and compression, and/or significant creative accomplishments in digital media also required. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.

For Adjunct Lecturer:

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

COMPENSATION

For Adjunct Lecturer: $91.67/hour

For Assistant Professor: $100.00/hour
