At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. We are in search of a dynamic and dedicated Patient Services Representative (.7 FTE) to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide support to the Foot & Ankle clinic by scheduling appointments, registering patients, gathering necessary insurance information, screening phone calls and taking messages.
What you’ll do:
Provide outstanding customer service. Greet patients, visitors and students in a warm and welcoming manner.
Answer and screen telephone calls; this requires taking detailed messages, determining who can address the message and determining the level of priority.
Schedule patient appointments by phone or upon check-out, according to the department’s guidelines.
Perform patient registration, insurance verification and authorization along with other data entry functions.
Collect co-payments and/or payment for non-covered items. Reconcile money for daily deposit.
Monitor and prep daily schedules for updates on patient information, HIPAA, consents, insurance authorizations, outside records, etc.
What we’re looking for:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Prior front office work experience in a medical office.
Experience with third-party payer regulations.
Excellent communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to receive verbal information and report this information in well-written, detailed documentation, using proper English and grammar.
Basic PC knowledge and skills; knowledge of email, Internet usage/access and/or Excel, Word or other related software for daily work; utilize fax, copier and telephone operations.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
