Job Description:

• Assist and tutor students in essential emergency skills aligned with EMS discipline standards. This will be done by teaching proper technique; helping students to understand the concepts; helping students to interpret results; assisting students in write-up of Emergency Skills Techniques; and operating the simulation software, programs and/or equipment.
• Maintain supply inventories. Control of emergency skills equipment and supplies by supervising the set-up of the emergency skills lab; prepping the materials, supplies and equipment needed; and maintaining standardization of said materials, supplies and equipment. Process donations and submit log to program directors as needed.
• Support faculty to develop and deliver scenarios on state-of-the-art simulation equipment. Co-ordinate emergency skills procedures by testing course procedures and assisting with testing of emergency skills/course set-up; supervising students during testing; checking results and recording scores.
• Service and maintain emergency skills equipment by checking operations; replacing used or broken equipment; and keeping inventory, stocking, and ordering of equipment, supplies and materials as needed.
• Maintain emergency skills records by checking worksheets and recording grades. Will record test scores as requested.
• Communicate on a regular basis with faculty regarding facilities, equipment, and overall lab environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant credential in Paramedic (State of Minnesota EMSRB and National Registry certification) AND
• One (1) year of teaching/tutoring experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the high school level or above OR
• Four (4 years of work experience in (Paramedic) where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required OR
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current post-secondary or industry certificate (certification)/ diploma/degree or relevant licensure in EMS, as well as American Heart Association CPR certification.
• 4 years of Paramedic experience.
• EMS instructor certification (DOT or NAEMSE) or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with virtual and physical simulation is preferred.
• Must have good human relation skills sufficient to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, and co-workers.
• Requires ability to cope with technical problems and resolve disruptions to emergency skill procedures.
• Requires ability to command respect and exercise authority in dealing with students.
• Learning agility; ability to learn new knowledge and skills required for job tasks.
• The applicant (the employee) should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
• Experience working at a two-year or four-year public college or university.
• Requires ability to command respect and exercise authority in dealing with students.
