The Assistant Director of Residence Life provides day-to-day management of the direction and administration of the university's residence life system housing 1100 students in five residential buildings. The assistant director will offer leadership for the implementation of respectful, responsible, and resourceful living communities. The assistant director will be an active participant through the Division of Student Experience and Success in university programs and events.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation of Area Coordinators (ACs). General administrative responsibilities: manage area coordinators with departmental processes and projects including but not limited to engagement, supervision, key inventory, opening, move arounds, closing, hall preparation, consolidations, and sales outreach.
• Create and sustain programming and engagement in the residence halls, incorporating university initiatives and values through campus-wide programming, living and learning communities, assessment, marketing/communication, and customer service.
• Oversight of student staff leadership: chair the selection process; coordinate and develop training for residence hall student staff (45-50 student employees); co-teach LST 296: Student Leadership Development for residence hall student staff and other student leaders; and provide ongoing leadership opportunities, community engagement, and leadership development.
• General student assistance: act as a resource for students seeking assistance in resolving personal and/or community related conflicts; check-in with residence life who have received university alerts; refer students to campus and community resources; respond to crisis situations or emergency situations involving either individual students or groups of students through live in/on-call crisis response responsibilities.
• Provide support, advising, and meditation services to individual students by serving as a facilitator of positive interpersonal relations grounded in the university's mission.
• Act as a conduct officer within the conduct adjudication process by enforcing university and residence hall policies, acting as the primary person for mid-level processes and crises.
• Advise student leadership organizations and provide oversight on departmental documents, including residence life handbook and staff manuals.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Have familiarity with university and community resources for referral and outreach opportunities.
• All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
