The Department of Engineering and Technology at Southeast Missouri State University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at an assistant professor level to primarily teach the undergraduate mechanical classes in both Engineering Technology and Engineering Physics programs.
Teaching a wide variety of mechanical and related engineering classes at undergraduate level, typically four courses per semester
Teaching, supporting, and developing, as necessary, undergraduate courses and laboratories in related areas of interest to the department
Establish a productive research program to support undergraduate degree programs
Advise students and provide service to the Department/University/College
Supervising and mentoring a diverse body of undergraduate students on their research and projects
Ph.D. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field by August 1, 2023 (degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university).
Ability to teach the following in areas such as (but not limited to): engineering mechanics—statics and dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, fluid power, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanical design, and industrial processes
Experience with hands-on design projects and laboratory work
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
Interested in supporting the teacher-scholar model and support the educational needs of the department as well as provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, collegiality, and collaboration when interacting with others within the University community
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
