The Deanâs Office for Academic Innovation and Student Success in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Program Coordinator III. The successful candidate will lead the coordination, development, implementation and management of college-wide undergraduate programing related to innovation and leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a new college-wide program, CALS Pathways in Innovation, aimed at engaging undergraduates in high impact practices that lead to micro-credentials in career ready competencies. The position is responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and training undergraduates to support this work. Â The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has a strong and vibrant tradition of student engagement in experiential learning and high-impact practices that provide students with the opportunity to foster new ideas, experiment, and develop leadership skills to become problem solvers in agriculture, the environment, and social and life sciences. These practices include undergraduate research, domestic and international study away programs, entrepreneurship programs, learning communities, judging competitions, and service learning. Â Â Â
The Program Specialist III will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Innovation. The successful candidate will possess exceptional skills in project management, problem solving, initiative, leadership, and team building. Proven communication skills are required to understand, communicate, and deliver programing, training, and information to a diverse group of individuals. A high level of professionalism and ability to work with partners and stakeholders at the campus and college level, including faculty, staff, donors, and alumni, is required. Â
Example of Duties
⢠Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university.
⢠Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion.
⢠Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program.
⢠Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university.
⢠Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives.
⢠Acts as a representative of the program.
⢠Participates in project management.
⢠May secure external funding as needed.
Level Guidelines
⢠Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISUâs mission and department or work unit goals
⢠Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
⢠Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
⢠Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
⢠Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
⢠May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
⢠May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
⢠Provides guidance to students
