Organization OverviewThe MacKinnon Lab, led by Dr. Rod MacKinnon, aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of information communication across the membrane of cells. Integral membrane proteins called ion channels control the electrical state of cells. The ion channels directly or indirectly through membrane receptors sense the cell's surrounding environment. Through electrophysiological, biochemical, and structural analysis, the laboratory seeks to understand how the ion channels and their cognate receptors give rise to communication between cells and their environment. OverviewWe are looking for a research specialist to join our team to clone DNA, express and purify membrane proteins, carry out biochemical assays to assess protein function.
