UCLA Extension is currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst to serve as the IT Business Analyst (Requisition 25935) within the department of Information Technology Services.
Under the general supervision of the UCLA Extension (UNEX) Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) the Business Analyst will liaison with designated Extension department(s) to understand their specific IT business needs and integrate those needs with institutional business and operational practices and any legal or policy requirements. The incumbent will work with internal stakeholders to understand user IT needs and perform high-level analysis and planning for the functional, system (hardware and software), and user requirements for requested projects. The Business Analyst will consult with users, vendors, and others in technical aspects of complex systems and applications appropriate to UNEX’s resources and needs and continually refine the organizational technical base by researching and testing new technological advances. The Business Analyst is responsible for identification, assessment, evaluation and project recommendation of IT solutions that meet UNEX’s operational needs and help achieve organizational strategic goals and initiatives. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for researching IT solutions that utilize existing UNEX IT tools and applications, and leverage packaged software, UCLA resources or external expertise, as appropriate. Additionally, the Business Analyst will maintain awareness of technology trends and proactively identify potential implications for the institution.
Experience in analysis of business needs and IT capabilities including relational databases, integrations and e-commerce websites. Experience in software design and development. Experience in agile methodology and story development. Ability to be make presentations to both technical and non-technical clients and facilitate the exchange of ideas and opinions with a variety of different people and with a solution focus. Process oriented team member who is able to work with different stakeholders to synthesize and explore various perspectives. Background in Information technology, business administration, or hands-on experience in a similar role for a minimum of 2- 3 years.
