GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of the Center for Nursing and Allied Health (CNAH) holds primary responsibility for the operation, supervision, and evaluation of the Center. This position plays a critical role in advancing the College's mission by overseeing nursing and allied health education initiatives, including simulation-based learning. The Director provides clinical, educational, and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of human patient simulation activities. They will oversee budget management, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, state regulations (Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing - BORN), and national accreditation standards (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing - ACEN). This role requires strong collaboration with faculty, nursing director, support staff, and external stakeholders, including state-wide and regional affinity groups, to enhance student learning outcomes and workforce readiness. The Director must exhibit initiative, enthusiasm, and leadership while fostering a culture of diversity, excellence, student engagement, and success. This is an in-person 12-month position with responsibilities in classrooms, simulation labs, clinicals and administrative settings.  The Director will engage with faculty, director of nursing, staff, students, and external organizations to enhance program effectiveness. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for events or accreditation activities.

The Director will be responsible for the leadership, management, and strategic direction of the Center for Nursing and Allied Health (CNAH). This role includes oversight of faculty, staff, and simulation programs while ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

A.  Leadership & Administration

1. Direct and manage all aspects of the CNAH, including faculty, staff, and simulation programs.
2. Serve as a liaison between CNAH and college administration, faculty, external stakeholders, and industry partners.
3. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to advance nursing and allied health programs.
4. Provide mentorship and leadership to faculty and support staff in simulation-based education.
5. Manage and oversee the CNAH operating budget, including resource allocation and grant funding opportunities.
6. Develop staffing and scheduling models to optimize utilization of simulation assets.
7. Participate in institutional self-study reports, site visits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
8. Promote development of interdisciplinary simulation curricula and research.
9. Participate in college-wide strategic planning as well as that of the Simulation Center.
10. Provide leadership and promote professional simulation development within the faculty.
11. Develop strategic planning to secure future accreditation of the Simulation Center.
12. Develop partnerships and seek external funding to support program sustainability, including new Nursing clinical sites.
13. Develop clinical sites schedule for Nursing faculty.
14. Oversee and ensure the entry and management of data in the Centralized Clinical Placement (CCP) System for all student placements.
15. Evaluate Clinical sites and adjunct Nursing faculty in clinical and lab settings.
16. Other duties as assigned.

B.  Accreditation & Compliance

1. Ensure compliance with ACEN, BORN, and other relevant accrediting bodies.
2. Maintain thorough records and documentation for accreditation and program evaluation.
3. Collaborate with the Director of Nursing with documentation of the CNAH for accreditation compliance.
4. Ensure CNAH meets all accreditation, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

C.  Curriculum & Instruction

1. Provide expertise in simulation-based learning, ensuring high-quality student experiences.
2. Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation into the curriculum and enhance academic rigor.
3. Support faculty development in simulation pedagogy and best practices.
4. Engage students in experiential learning opportunities, ensuring alignment with workforce demands.

D.  Simulation & Technology

1. Evaluate and enhance simulation activities for effectiveness, student engagement, and skill development.
2. Ensure optimal use of simulation technology, equipment, and educational materials.
3. Demonstrate expertise in human patient simulation technology and best practices.
4. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree in nursing from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution.
2. Current RN licensure in Massachusetts (or eligibility for licensure).
3. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in nursing education, simulation-based instruction, and healthcare leadership.
4. Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience at the director, department chair, or comparable level.
5. Strong knowledge of ACEN and BORN accreditation requirements and curriculum development.
6. Experience with budget management, strategic planning, and program evaluation.
7. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
8. Experience with NECHE accreditation.
9. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or ability to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
2. Doctoral degree, or current enrollment with completion within three years of employment.
3. Experience in grant writing and securing external funding for nursing and allied health education programs.
4. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), simulation software, and emerging healthcare technologies.
5. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

COMPENSATION:      Annual salary range of $126,000 - $130,000 (dependent upon qualifications). Full-time, Non-unit Professional position including participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program and the option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
