The University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) invites applications for a non-tenure track Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Research Scholar to begin academic year 2024-25. The ideal candidate will have some experience in energy or environmental law and/or policy and an interest in research and teaching. This Research Scholar position is intended for J.D. graduates who are looking for an opportunity to prepare for an academic career. The Research Scholar can pursue scholarly interests, attend workshops, interact with other faculty, and audit courses or seminars. The ultimate goal of this Research Scholar is to facilitate placement of into a law school tenure-track academic position.

The appointment is a one-year commitment with the potential to renew for a second year. It is conditioned upon acceptance into the UHLC LL.M. in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Law program. The Research Scholar's primary responsibilities are three-fold: (1) Enrollment and completion of an LL.M. in EENR, which is a 24-credit hour obligation; (2) Research and write at least one sole authored, publishable, full-length law review article related to environment, energy, or natural resources; and (3) carry out a program of tutorial instruction for an approved course.
