• Master's degree in Nursing Education from an accredited institution.
• Registered Nurse with an active unencumbered license in North Carolina or hold a license with multi-state privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
• Two calendar years of full-time clinical experience with direct patient care as a registered nurse.
• Administrative experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Two years of teaching experience in a nursing program (classroom and clinical setting).
• Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers.

• Five or more years of experience in acute care with direct patient care responsibilities.
• Five or more years of teaching experience in a nursing, preferably in the community college setting
• Knowledge of concept-based nursing education and familiarity with the NC Community College associate degree nursing curriculum

The Nursing Program Coordinator is a position combining responsibilities of program coordination and student instruction. The employee supports the Director of Nursing in providing academic leadership, program coordination, and faculty supervision, while also serving as a faculty member delivering high-quality nursing instruction across classroom, laboratory, clinical, and simulation settings. This role ensures the program, along with instructional staff/faculty, meets the educational and workforce needs of the community while maintaining high academic and clinical standards.
Each staff member is expected to participate in the governance of the college through committees and divisional meetings, through shared leadership within and across divisions, and through personal recommendations to college administrators.

Essential Duties:

Program Management

• Coordinates and monitors program effectiveness activities such as program learning outcomes and the program assessment processes including any Board of Nursing and accreditation requirements (program description report, comprehensive program evaluation plan, etc.).
• Facilitates curriculum development through course creation and updates to existing courses in conjunction with the director.
• Assists director with development of curriculum course schedule each semester, exploring innovative scheduling options, recommending instructor assignments, and reviewing schedules for accuracy.
• Assists in coordinating the development, planning, and implementation of goals and objectives related to the assigned nursing program and support areas.
• Coordinates and monitors assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluations of courses/programs to improve students' learning and meet institutional effectiveness initiatives and accreditation standards. 
• Assists the director in establishing and maintaining effective advisory committees in support of nursing education programs.
• Analyzes enrollment data to determine outreach and/or promotional needs.
• Coordinates program offerings in the curriculum program(s) and or instructional area(s) with the dean.
• Assess courses/program for compliance with college, Board of Nursing, and accreditation standards.
• Assists the director in maintaining the currency and accuracy of the college catalog, web pages, and handbooks related to the program.
• Assists with ensuring maintenance of accurate records based on the course/program needs, which may include additional record keeping beyond college specific requirements (i.e. accreditation, regulatory boards).

• Delivers engaging instruction in nursing and healthcare training courses in a variety of settings.
• Facilitates student learning through effective delivery of didactic content using best practices while assisting students to apply this content into safe client care within applicable settings for the course/program.
• Facilitates learning for students from diverse backgrounds including culture, ethnicity, age, gender, and ability.  
• Evaluates student performance in various settings ensuring student knowledge, skills, and abilities are satisfactory for the course/program level and maintains standards for safe client care.  
• Role models and exhibits professionalism, ethical behavior, honesty, and integrity.
• Travels to assigned clinical/lab locations and maneuvers effectively within environments to safely monitor students, care for clients, and supervise clinical instruction. 
• Facilitates students' understanding of the importance of personal and career-oriented "soft" skills and the essential role this skill development plays in achieving success in life, college, and the workplace. 
• Participates in professional development activities identified by the College and those required to maintain licensure, certification, or credentials for assigned healthcare training or nursing courses/programs. 

• Assist director in recruiting, selecting, and orienting instructors in assigned areas.
• Leads and supervises instructional staff to ensure deadlines and curriculum requirements are met.
• Arranges attendance of instructional staff at recruiting, fundraising, and other events.
• Conducts observations of and evaluates nursing instructional staff when necessary (full-time and part-time).
• Ensures contracts for part-time/adjunct instructors are created and approved in a timely manner. 
• Ensures nursing instructors facilitate student learning through effective delivery of didactic content and clinical experiences utilizing best practices for specific courses/programs.

• Assists the director with managing the budget for the program.
• Advises the director of departmental needs for personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, professional development, and other resources on an ongoing basis and as part of the annual planning process.
• Works with other staff to maintain and coordinate the purchase of needed equipment and supplies while adhering to budgetary constraints.

• Provides instruction within the One College Model (curriculum, continuing education, workforce training) which may include day, evening, weekend, or online instruction as necessary meeting expectations of the teaching workload as defined by the college.
• Ensure availability for students by maintaining established student support hours, offering availability by appointment, and responding to electronic communications appropriately and promptly.
• Employ a proactive advising model that encompasses Appreciative Advising techniques in line with college expectations that empowers students to make informed decisions regarding their academic and career futures.

• Demonstrates adherence to expected applicable job duties within the position description for assigned workload expectations (i.e., Instructional Staff, Simulation Coordinator, etc.). 
• Role models and exhibits professionalism, ethical behavior, honesty, and integrity.
• Establishes and maintains a positive environment and professional relationship with students, faculty, staff, facility personnel, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to meet requirements/standards for all utilized clinical facilities within assigned course/program responsibilities (background check, drug screening, health requirements, etc.).

• Participates in professional development activities identified by the College and those required to maintain licensure, certification, or credentials for assigned responsibilities.
• Maintain professional boundaries within all settings.
• Attend College, committee, faculty, and course meetings as assigned/required.
• Participate in community service activities supported by the College.
• Demonstrates a commitment to the community college "open door" philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept.

• Must be able to meet the Technical Standards for Nursing or other specific healthcare programs alongside additional technical standards that may be required by clinical facilities.
• Knowledge of the mission and purpose of the NC Community College System.
• Ability to work well with others and lead as part of a professional team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
