Clerical Associate - Area Technical School - PT

Classification Summary:
Incumbents perform basic clerical functions such as providing customer service by answering defined questions and providing information and preparing standard correspondence and reports. Responsibilities may include accepting and processing payments; providing departmental or organizational information; processing forms; and performing the duties of lower level administrative support position(s).

Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 6 months clerical or office experience.

Classification Duties:

1. Perform a variety of general secretarial, data entry, payment processing, and clerical support, some of which may be of a confidential nature. (A1)
2. Track various department documents and records, prepare routine reports and distribute to appropriate parties. (B2)
3. Assist with new student/employee orientations including entering information to campus and/or department-specific software and preparing welcome letters. (B2)
4. Receive incoming phone calls; welcome visitors, guests, and vendors; direct callers and visitors to appropriate personnel. (A1)
5. Scan large volumes of department documents and electronically label and file as appropriate. (B2)
6. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type, as assigned.

Position Duties:

1. Apply duties, knowledge, and skills to a high school setting on a college campus, which requires working with high school-age students, their parents, and the school districts in Jefferson County.
2. Daily interaction with high school students to provide information, direction, and assistance.
3. Assist with the planning, coordinating, and implementing ATS events for high/junior high school students and/or parents. (ex: Be A Guest, Show Me ATS, School Tours, Accepted Student Night, Welcome Back Night, Decision Day)

Knowledge:

• Customer services principles
• Computers and related software applications
• Data entry techniques
• Recordkeeping principles

Skills:

• Reviewing and processing paperwork and digital application including but not limited to
• Maintaining confidentiality
• Processing information utilizing established procedures;
• Keyboarding;
• Using office equipment;
• Maintaining records and files;
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public etc, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Wage/Salary: $16.18 per hour / $16.30 effective July 1
Status: Part time
If Part-time, hours per week: 29.5 hours
If Non-exempt, work days: Mon - Fri during the academic year; Mon - Thurs during the summer8:15 AM - 2:45 PM daily
