Program Coordinator, Deliberative Citizenship Initiative (DCI)

The Deliberative Citizenship Initiative (DCI) at Davidson College is seeking an energetic and hard-working Program Coordinator. The mission of the DCI is to create opportunities for Davidson students, faculty, staff, community members, and alumni to engage with one another on difficult and contentious issues facing our community and society. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the implementation and logistics of the initiative's programs and components. These components include efforts to create opportunities for productive dialogue and deliberation in diverse classroom settings, outside of the classroom, and in the community.

Responsibilities include:

• Organizing and managing logistics of the Initiative's meetings, programs, and events:
  • Meetings: Fellows, Co-Conveners, and Advisory Council
  • Programs: Deliberation Across the Curriculum, Campus Engagement, Community Engagement, and Deliberation Research and Evaluation
  • Events: Deliberative Citizenship Speaker Series, Deliberative Citizenship Training Workshops, Deliberative Forums, and "D" Teams
• Maintaining and updating the initiative's website and social media presence
• Managing the data collected by the DCI about its programs
• Managing and tracking the expenses and budget of the Initiative
• Working on special projects related to the mission of the DCI

Essential Qualifications:

• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
• Enthusiasm about providing deliberation opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members
• Excellent organizational, technical, and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines consistently
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovation-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with undergraduate students, college faculty and staff, and/or community members
• Experience coordinating complex projects with multiple components
• Familiarity with WordPress and Canva
