Description of Work:
The Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center (ENREEC) is as an integral hub of research and innovation. ENREEC is positioned at the forefront of cutting-edge agricultural research, education, and extension activities that address the challenges of modern farming. The site consists of approximately 9,600 acres with about half of the land base being row crops, both irrigated and non-irrigated, and half pasture. Over 6,000 livestock animals used for research and teaching reside onsite as well. ENREEC is located near Ceresco, Wahoo, Mead, and Ithaca, NE, within 30 minutes of both the Omaha and Lincoln metro areas.
As a Swine Breeding and Gestation Technician, you will:
- Perform breeding duties and provide overall care of animals in the gestation and reproductive area of the Swine Unit.
- Perform data collection.
- Feed animals, administer vaccinations and medical treatment, and care for animals according to unit treatment protocols and estrous observations.
- Maintain facility through repairs as needed, including outside grounds maintenance.
- Cross train with the grow/finish phase, as well as the farrowing and nursery phase, and be involved with the overall care of pigs and facilities.
Within the UNL system, this position is classified as an Ag Research Technician II.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma plus four years of experience working with breeding animals; additional relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to work in a team, make timely decisions, care for animals, and maintain a sanitary environment.
- Must have valid Nebraska driver's license and be able to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Posted Salary: $20.00/hr minimum
