Job Summary:
The Comparative American Studies Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of two semesters, beginning Fall 2025, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Comparative American Studies.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the general area of American and Asian American studies. Responsibilities will include teaching Introduction to American Studies, Introduction to Asian American studies, and electives from the introductory to advanced levels. Desired specializations include Asian American history, comparative approaches to race and ethnicity, and interdisciplinary research methods.
Required qualifications:
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by August 2025). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Oberlin College is committed to student and faculty diversity, equity and inclusion. Compensation:
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a competitive benefits package.
