Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Director is responsible for the management of: Oncology, BMT, Cardiovascular, Med Surg nursing services at UCI Health Irvine. The Director provides services to meet physician and HealthSystem objectives in the following areas: a) patient care, teaching and research, b) clinical resource management, and c) developing and administering an operating budget for capital, and programs. Maintains responsibility for the direction, administration, quality, coordination, and evaluation of patient care activities, and support services are efficiently performed to support patient care in each of the Cost Centers in the Division. Maintains direct supervision of the Managers and indirect supervision of staff FTEs 7days a week, 24 hours a day.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong customer service orientation with an ability to interact effectively with all levels including staff, senior management, physicians, patients, and families
• Strong clinical skills
• Results oriented attitude with excellent budgeting and financial skills
• RN Certification in specialty area or management, within 3 years of hire
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated management experience in a healthcare environment
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and provide effective leadership with a positive focus that will enhance the nursing services of the Division, providing optimal patient-oriented health care in an efficient and cost-effective manner
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs and services
• Computer familiarity using MS Office and Outlook
• BSN with a Master of Science degree in a related field or MSN

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the Orange County healthcare market
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Experience working in a UC and/or union environment

Licenses and Certifications:

• RN
