General Description:
Under supervision by scientists, the Research Scientist in chemistry performs a wide variety of in-depth lab processes, testing and analyses, assists in compiling standard and complex laboratory data, and maintains an accurate laboratory notebook. The incumbent can prepare, qualify and validate instruments, samples, and reagents required for research. They maintain an orderly and clean laboratory with strong adherence to safety and quality assurance guidelines. The incumbent will communicate the results of analysis to various research teams and participate in project team discussions with the Principal Investigators, the Center Director, IFSH Executive Director, and actively contribute towards the IFSH strategic plans and goals.

Education & Experience:
Requires MS degree or BS/BA degree + 3 years' experience in relevant field of science such as Chemistry, Food Science, etc. Candidates with higher degrees may apply. Candidates with prior experience with food sample analysis will be highly desirable. >3 years' experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
In addition to good academic credentials, the candidate should have strong analytical skills and attention to detail in conducting experiments. Ability to multitask on projects and demonstrates good results orientation through a pro-active and team-based approach. Effective communication skills are required. Demonstrates excellent team-player skills. Basic Word and Excel skills required for data entry; good organization skills. Presentation development. Familiar with various analytical instrumentation and their software.
