Assistant to the Office of Clinical Practice Director

POSITION DETAILS

The School of Education at The City College of New York (CCNY) seeks an Assistant to the Office of Clinical Practice Director to provide services related to fieldwork, student teaching, and practice requirements for NYSED certification. The Assistant to the Office of Clinical Practice Director will report to the Dean and the Director of the School of Education Office of Clinical Practice.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Managing the registration of students in student teaching and practicum courses
• Coordinating several mandatory workshops for the School of Education majors (i.e., Child Abuse Identification, Violence Prevention, and Dignity for All Students), as required by NYSED, in collaboration with the Director
• Preparing all student teaching and practice files, permanent record cards, statistical files, and end-term student teaching packages for all field supervisors
• Coordinating the orientations and meetings for faculty, staff, field supervisors, and students involved in fieldwork, student teaching, and practice
• Overseeing the record keeping system for student teaching, tuition waivers, statement of completion, and completion workshops
• Assisting the Director with cultivating a network of school sites and partnerships
• Liaising with school district personnel, school administrators, faculty supervisors, and cooperating teachers to develop and maintain relationships that lead to quality clinical experiences for students
• Coordinating procedures for assessing effectiveness of current fieldwork, student teaching, and practice placements; determining future placement needs; identifying sites for future placements; and monitoring the adherence of programs to NYSED certification guidelines for field experiences and student teaching
• Responding to general public requests for information about clinical experiences
• Supporting school-based action research initiatives and school development efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor?s degree and four years? related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master?s degree is preferred. The preferred candidate will have a strong work ethic; excellent oral and written communication skills; and exceptional interpersonal, computer, and computational skills. Experience handling confidential matters and materials and working with a highly diverse faculty, staff, and student body in a college or university are essential.

• Provides instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on department activities, policies, and schedules.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $86,645 - $90,375. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
