Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an individual for the position of Prep Cook. The responsibilities of the Prep Cook will include preparing food as directed by the chef and cook staff, making sandwiches and salads and maintaining sanitary procedures in the kitchen and food storage areas.

Position Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalentExperience: One-year cooking experience in restaurant, catering, or hotel preferred.Knowledge/Skills:
- Knife Skills
- Basic equipment operation & safe handling practices
- Cold food preparation and serving
- Proper sanitation procedures
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Knowledge of a point-of-sale system preferred.
- Nassau County Department of Health sanitation certificate preferred.
- Ability to understand the Spanish language is helpful.Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Constant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning.
- Receiving of information through oral communication and a computer.
- Exposure to heat and noise. -

Compensation
The hourly rate for this role is $17.72-21.14. The hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
