GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cape Cod Community College's Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) is seeking an experienced HVAC/Heat Pump Instructor to assist in the planning and implementation of a new HVAC/Heat Pump training program. This role is funded through a planning grant and will involve conducting industry research, assessing regional employer needs, and developing customized, stackable credentials to enhance an existing state-wide HVAC curriculum. The instructor will play a key role in curriculum design, employer engagement, and program development to align training with workforce demands in the Cape Cod region. This position is subject to funding through a grant and will be limited to 18 hours per week for 18 weeks during the initial phase of a planning grant. The College intends to apply for an implementation grant for the next phase, with the goal of maintaining this position in a part-time capacity.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Collaborate with CCAPE and regional industry partners to assess employer needs, workforce demands, and training gaps in the HVAC and heat pump sector.
- Conduct and or assist in a regional screening of HVAC employers to determine skills, certifications, and equipment needed for workforce readiness.
- Identify and recommend equipment and technology investments required to support hands-on HVAC/heat pump training.
- Assist in identifying, securing, and developing lab space for the HVAC and heat pump program by providing insights and recommendations based on prior experience.
- Develop stackable credentials that can be integrated into the HVAC curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry-recognized certifications and safety protocols.
- Assist in the design and customization of HVAC/heat pump curriculum to meet the region's workforce and energy efficiency goals.
- Work closely with CCAPE staff to ensure program development aligns with grant objectives and funding requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders, including employers, workforce boards, and industry professionals, to gather insights and refine program content.
- Provide guidance on state and national HVAC certifications, licensing requirements, and best practices for training delivery.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Industry certifications such as EPA 608, NATE, OSHA 10/30, or manufacturer-specific heat pump certifications.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $65/hour, dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience, and field expertise. Part-time, project-based, non-benefited, non-unit position. Position funded through MassCEC Planning Grant for HAVAC and Heating Pump Program.
