Prescott College seeks applicants for a full-time, hybrid (remote/in-person) faculty position in Psychology. This faculty member will teach and contribute to curriculum development within our BA in Psychology program, as well as contribute to the Prescott College learning community. We are looking for a colleague to support our holistic approach to psychology and well-being and to equip students with skills and knowledge to pursue professional careers in mental health and psychology.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching, student advising, governance, and to engage in professional development within the field. Teaching might include foundational psychology courses such as Introduction to Psychology and Lifespan Development, as well as specialty courses including Psychopathology and Health, Foundations of Critical Psychology, Ecopsychology, Transpersonal Psychology, and Women’s Psychology and Sexuality, among others that reflect the faculty member’s interest and expertise

Candidates should have significant undergraduate and graduate-level teaching experience in Psychology courses in online, site-based, and/or hybrid settings; a Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field), and evidence of research experience. Program leadership and development skills and experience are also desirable. The candidate’s teaching and research emphasis may be in one or more of a variety of relevant disciplinary or interdisciplinary academic fields. Academic and subject areas the candidate might draw from to develop curriculum include (but are not limited to): ecopsychology; environmental psychology; cultural and multicultural psychology; critical psychology, decolonial and Indigenous psychologies, feminist/queer studies; culturally-responsive mental healthcare and counseling; specific community health issues; global community contexts; and more.   

Our ideal candidate brings knowledge and experience working in academic and/or applied settings such as human/social services, community health, and within movements or institutions working for social and/or environmental justice. Additionally, we value motivation to connect students with opportunities for hands-on learning. The candidate should also have a strong understanding of the structural and systemic factors shaping psychological processes and mental health.
