About the Agriculture Institute's Dairy and Livestock Program:

The Dairy and Livestock Program is part of the Division of Extension's Agriculture Institute and provides timely resources and information to help Wisconsin producers and their consultants manage dairy and livestock more efficiently and profitably. Wisconsin's dairy industry contributes $45.6 Billion annually to the economy, making it the largest agricultural industry in the state.

About this Position:

The Dairy and Livestock Program Manager is an exciting position meant to provide leadership for Extension's Dairy and Livestock Program. The Program Manager will work with Extension faculty and staff and the state's agricultural producers to understand the dairy and livestock production-related challenges on Wisconsin farms in order to create connections, identify needs, and develop and maintain robust, high-quality outreach education programs.

The Dairy and Livestock Program Manager will:

- Provide leadership for teams of faculty and staff that conduct dairy and livestock-related programming in order to maintain strategic direction, build partnerships, and seek a diverse funding portfolio to support the work.
- Mentor, support and supervise educators and outreach specialists in the Agriculture Institute that are engaged in programming related to dairy and livestock production.
- Collaborate with Extension colleagues, industry, and other stakeholders to identify needs and develop and maintain robust, high-quality outreach education programs that provide solutions to critical issues facing dairy and livestock producers in Wisconsin.
- Build trust-based relationships with stakeholders and partners to maximize the reach and impact of programming

The ideal candidate will have experience with developing and evaluating educational programming and a track record of building positive relationships.

• 25% Supervises the implementation of outreach-program-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives
• 15% Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan
• 5% Monitors the unit or program budget and approves program expenditures
• 20% Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services
• 10% Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan
• 25% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees

Master's Degree in a field related to this position's focus

Required:
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience;
- Experience with mentoring and/or supervising
- Demonstrated educational program development skills including planning and implementing programs, evaluation, and communicating program impact and value to stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, through a variety of technologies;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Preferred:
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Strong interpersonal relationship and problem-solving skills in a team setting;
- Demonstrated experience with building diverse, collaborative partnerships;
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to write grants and establish partnerships that pool or leverage public and private funds in support of the Institutional mission.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
