Job Description Summary
The Pre-Law Advisor supports Miami University pre-law students in career exploration and preparation for law school applications. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, on-campus administrative staff position on a ten-month contract, with occasional evening or weekend activities. Typically, the position will run from August 1st to May 31st but due to the late start date this will end on June 30, 2025 and be renewable on August 1st, 2025 upon successful performance.
Job Description
Job Duties:

Inform and advise students about legal careers and preparation for law school applications.

Analyze student data to adjust programming.

Assist in creating or presenting educational materials and sessions on pre-law topics.

Promote the Pre-Law Center and Miami University to prospective students.

Plan, organize, and execute large events such as law fairs and guest lectures.

Serve as an instructor for up to one course per semester

Provide support and resources to the director and other university constituencies.

Other duties as assigned by the director.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Master’s or graduate degree in academic advising, higher ed administration, student affairs, related fields, or JD; 1 year of experience in a university or college advising setting. Must be eligible to work in the United States
Consideration may be given to candidates with pre-law or pre-professional advising experience; experience working with diverse student populations; experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS; e.g., Canvas), EAB student advising software, MS Office, and virtual meeting tools; excellent communication skills.
