The Opportunity:
The Carson College of Business at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, is seeking a new colleague to support the department of Marketing and International Business. This is a full-time faculty position located at the Pullman campus. Our new colleague will work collaboratively with our sales faculty to support and grow WSU's Professional Sales Program. The appointment rank will be at the Career-Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications, with a renewable 2-year appointment and an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.


Faculty (+) (Fixed Term): August 1, 2025 - May 15, 2027

Position Term in months: 9

Required Qualifications for all Ranks (Career-Track):

• An earned Master's degree or Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university.
  
• Demonstrated ability or potential to support and build the WSU Professional Sales Program by developing and maintaining partnerships with industry partners, alumni, and donors and providing stewardship to those stakeholders.
  
• Evidence of success in teaching sales classes at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  
• Experience working collaboratively and the motivation to contribute to a collegial department atmosphere.
  

Required Qualifications for Associate Professor (Career-Track):

• Six years of experience as an Assistant Career-Track faculty or equivalent is required to be considered as an Associate Professor (Career-Track).

Required Qualifications for Full Professor

• Six years of experience as an Associate Career-Track faculty or equivalent is required to be considered as a Full Professor (Career-Track).

Preferred Qualifications for all Ranks/Tracks:

• Evidence of experience in developing academic programs and fostering student engagement.
  
• Relevant industry experience in sales or marketing.

Duties:
The successful candidate will support and grow the Sales Program through teaching, research, and service. Specific responsibilities include:

• Teaching (50-70%, depending on qualifications):
  
  • Teach undergraduate courses with the Sales Program(e.g., Professional Sales, Advanced Professional Sales, Sales Management, etc.).,
    
  • Develop new courses for the Professional Sales Program, as needed.
    

• Research (0-20%, depending on qualifications):
  
  • May be asked to conduct managerially relevant research that informs the sales profession. However, research will be a small component of this role.
    

• Service (20-40%, depending on qualifications):
  
  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders to maintain and enhance the program's visibility and reputation.
    
  • Plan and execute three Sales Program events per semester, in conjunction with the department administrative assistant and college event planner.
    
  • Train students for relevant regional and national sales competitions and attend with them to enhance the Sales Program's visibility and reputation.
    
  • Compile annual reports, tracking the impact of the WSU Professional Sales Program on the College.

Term, Compensation and Support

The term of the faculty appointment is a nine-month academic year. Compensation will align with the candidate's rank and qualifications, consistent with WSU policy, and includes a competitive benefits package. The base salary by rank is:

• Assistant Professor: $95,000-$110,000
  
• Associate Professor: $105,000-$125,000
  
• Full Professor: $115,000-$140, 000
  

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
