Fleet Management Support Specialist, Transportation & Parking Services
The Fleet Management Support Specialist is to assist the Assistant Director with planning, administering, coordinating, and implementing efficient shuttle services, fleet management, and parking operations for the University.
Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles)
Start Date: Immediately

Position Hourly Rate Range: $27.00-$32.00
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors
- Responds to inquiries concerning routing and charter transportation requests
- Handles issues or conflicts that impact daily operations, ensuring smooth department functions
- Assists with compiling and providing data reports on shuttle ridership, trends, and effectiveness of various transportation programs, including parking counts
- Assists with surveying the existing transportation shuttle service for safety, service costs, and areas needing improvement; advises the Assistant Director of needs involving safety and matters
- Assists with preparing and maintaining various records and reports related to routing, schedules, accidents, and other transportation services, shuttle records, fuel use, and vehicle inspection records
- Assists with parking services including permit distribution, and parking citation appeals
- Processes transportation and parking reservations in partnership with Campus Safety
- Acts as a substitute driver on rare occasions due to shortage of agency contracted shuttle drivers
- Maintains and updates the department website, mobile transit app, GPS Dash Cams, onboard Wi-Fi, and other transportation technology in partnership with vendors
- Conducts and oversees pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure DOT compliance and safety standards.
- Monitors two-way radios for shuttle problems, lateness, and accidents
- Use basic mechanical knowledge and inspection skills necessary to detect and report maintenance, safety, and mechanical problems. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as topping-off engine oil and other fluids
- Conducts quarterly inspections of fleet vehicles, utility golf carts, and golf carts to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with university and regulatory standards
- Monitors vehicle maintenance needs, coordinate repairs, and ensure preventative maintenance is performed
- Maintains compliance records, including DMV registration renewals, maintenance logs, and safety inspections
- Ensures vehicle refueling is performed per standard procedure and that proper fuel levels are kept for all fleet vehicles Monitor and manage fuel cards, ensuring their safekeeping and proper use
- Coordinates vendors to provide repairs and preventative maintenance of shuttles and other fleet vehicles; monitor the status of repairs; inform the Assistant Director of the need for equipment and supplies
- Tracks and distributes equipment, supplies, and spare parts
- Assists in evaluating fleet vehicles for environmental compliance, reassignment, acquisition, donation, or disposal
- Supports the Assistant Director in developing asset management strategies for vehicles and equipment
- Assists with the development and implementation training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care
- Assists in managing the university's authorized driver and rental program
- Facilitates training programs and behind-the-wheel training sessions for students, staff, and faculty
- Ability to observe, listen, and note issues related to driver/operator behavior and ability to identify address, and correct safety infractions and training needs
- Observes, assesses, and addresses driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work may be assigned at either Chalon or Doheny Campus
- May be required to work weekends
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Understanding of transportation operations and best practices.
- Familiarity with California state commercial driving regulations and procedures.
- Proficiency in various safe driving techniques.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word, relevant to department operations.
- Knowledge of proper passenger loading and unloading procedures, including the safe operation of specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts and tie-downs.
- Flexibility to work weekends and adapt to varying schedules.
Abilities and Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, team-focused, and adaptable to changing demands.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make accurate, decisive decisions in real-time situations.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with the Mount community.
- Willingness and ability to work in an environment with exposure to certain cleaning agents and chemicals.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Experience in managing and supervising a shuttle program with Class B drivers.
- Knowledge of DOT compliance, including CHP inspection requirements.
- Minimum of two years of transportation supervisory experience.
- Clean driving record for the past three years.
- Proven experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Class 'B' endorsement 'P' California driver's license.
- Contingent on completion of a satisfactory driving records check and ongoing participation in the DMV Pull Program (driving record audits).
