Position Summary

This position will support Minimally Invasive Surgery, Weight Loss Surgery, and Medical Weight Loss. The day-to-day responsibilities include triage of patient calls and MyChart messages, medication refills, administration and documentation of vaccinations, complete Family Medical Leave paperwork as needed and patient education.

Employee will attend clinic and/or support physician with back house clinic duties including preparing charts, scheduling tests, transcribing orders, scheduling surgeries, and Prior Auths. The Staff Nurse will also be responsible for managing assigned physicianâ™s incoming faxes as well as assist with clinic procedures to include aspirations, excisions, dressing changes, and injections. Staff Nurse will assist in coverage for weekly pre-operative education classes to patients undergoing bariatric surgery using outlined PowerPoint presentation, moderating monthly post-operative support group meetings (meetings are virtual and can be done from home), and facilitate the long-term follow-up of procedure-specific patient groups ordering labs/imaging per protocol. The position includes consenting for research studies and facilitating the administration of research protocols.

The Staff Nurse will be working alongside RNâ™s, physicians, nurse practitioners, and MAâ™s as appropriate, receive live and/or virtual Epic (EHR) training, have access to Procedural Videos about the different procedures performed, and will receive training guide binder with detailed instructions on assigned tasks.

Hours: Normally Monday â“ Friday, 8:00 am â“ 4:00 pm (no weekends or major holidays); throughout the month there are quality and accreditation meetings prior to clinic.

Flexibility: Ability to work from home one day a week (after probationary period of 6 months).

Job Description

• Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
• Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
• Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
• Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
• Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$56,200.00 - $96,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
