Assistant Director, Production Manager

The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.

The Exhibition department is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Production Management to lead a team of professionals responsible for developing, producing and installing objects, including models and dioramas, for world-class Museum exhibitions. The team consists of in-house staff and freelance specialists, vendors and outside contractors. The Assistant Director guides and helps coordinate the work of the Exhibition Maintenance team.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Review and guide the work of preparators, model makers and mount makers.
• Coordinate with Exhibition design and management teams to plan in-house exhibition production work.
• Create exhibition production schedules and budgets and manage and update them with Exhibition department Directors and Senior Directors.
• Review planned and in-progress work of the Exhibition Maintenance team and provide guidance and coordination with other Exhibition teams and other departments.
• Coordinate and supervise the installation and de-installation of Museum objects on display and of models and graphics.

The expected salary range for the Assistant Director, Production Management is $105,000/annual - $110,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
