Compensation:
The expected starting salary range for this position is between $74,000 and $78,100. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.

Position Overview:
This full-time (1.0 FTE) exempt, regular, bene?t-eligible sta? position will be a member of a well-organized and collaborative Alumni Annual Fund team.

Collectively, the AAF sta? work with volunteers to raise more than $10 million each year from alumni, parents, and friends of the College, and Carleton consistently leads in the percent of alumni participation. The goal for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving is to maintain best practices while meeting the goals for the operating budget and alumni and parent engagement, and identifying areas of growth and innovation.

This position focuses on increasing participation by young alumni in the Alumni Annual Fund as volunteers and donors. Cultivating and engaging this important constituency now will be key to maximizing their involvement into the future. The college recognizes the need to strengthen young alumni engagement and has prioritized this with resources.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

AAF Volunteer Manager:

AAF Non-Reunion Class Teams (years 1- 4, 6-9 from graduation)

• Develop tangible, community-oriented approach to young alumni philanthropy

• Recruit and Develop AAF volunteers

• Coach, with Young Alumni AAF Board Members, on strategies

• Partner with volunteers to create agendas for monthly class calls

• Increase AAF volunteer recruitment prior to and between reunions

• Provide strategic direction and support for key class fundraising communications as well as donor stewardship

• Meet 1:1 with AAF volunteers to build and strengthen relationships with the College

• Gather content (solicitations or thank yous) from volunteers and deploy using a variety of tools including mail, email marketing systems, texting and video platforms.

5th and 10th Reunion Class Gift

• Collaborate with Alumni Relations colleagues as sta? leads for 5th and 10th Reunions

• Recruit Gift Chairs and committee members

• Meet regularly with gift chairs to review giving pyramid, workbook, and goals

• Ensure gift conversations are a motivating experience for whole committee

• Assist in planning and execution of Class Challenge

• Partner with Alumni Relations counterpart (Associate Director for Young Alumni Engagement) to plan and execute Jumpstart programing during CAVE weekend

Young Alumni Engagement:

Carleton Young Alumni (C’YA)

• Collaborate with Alumni Relations colleagues to develop and execute strategies for increasing young alumni engagement, including sta?ng regional C'YA events.

• Coordinate with Associate Director for Young Alumni Engagement and Associate Director for Messaging and Project Management to plan timing for follow up messaging and outreach after C’YA Events.

• Meet 1:1 with non- AAF volunteers to build and strengthen relationships with the College

• Meet Regularly with YA Board Members and provide insight on potential board members

Student Philanthropy Education

• Coordinate with Associate Director for Young Alumni Engagement to aid in recruitment of STAMP - Student Ambassadors.

• Collaborate with Alumni Relations colleagues to plan philanthropy education components of Maize & Blue Daize including student stewardship activities and educational exhibits and games.

• Project manager/Asana coordinator for Maize & Blue Daize

• Meet regularly with STAMP - Student Ambassadors to plan programming and other opportunities to share philanthropy education with the wider campus community

Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

• B.A. degree.

• 3 or more years years previous experience in fundraising or comparable work

• Appreciation for and commitment to Carleton’s liberal arts mission. Have an appreciation for the educational experience a small residential college provides.

• Interest in thinking creatively and strategically about how engagement with an organization intersects with philanthropy and volunteerism.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the judgment and discretion to handle con?dential or sensitive matters.

• Highly organized.

• Ability to adapt to various communication and work styles.

• Ability to take Initiative and Work Autonomously

• Team oriented and collaborative.

• Commitment to inclusion, diversity and equity, with openness to diverse voices and perspectives. Attentiveness to inclusive recruitment and communications practices.

• Ability to travel; some evening and weekend work required.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in relationship or volunteer management, or comparable experience.

• Comfort with a range of technical tools and programs is a plus.

• Pro?ciency with managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
