Core technology platforms at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Instrumentation Scientist to oversee the Kinesis Core lab?s operational, technical, and research functions, supporting faculty and researchers with high-level expertise in automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This role combines scientific, technical, and strategic planning duties, providing continuity and advancing the lab?s capabilities through expertise in AI applications and data science methodologies. The candidate should possess advanced technical skills, particularly in robotics and AI, with a commitment to ensuring operational stability, team mentorship, and research innovation.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Research Support: Provide scientific and technical support to the relevant faculty and researchers, maintaining high standards for operational excellence, and safety compliance.
• Advanced Technical and Experimental Support: Oversee the development and optimization of experiments utilizing AI and robotics; provide specialized support and training for interdisciplinary faculty and researchers.
• AI and Data Science Expertise: Implement AI and data science methods to enhance data quality, optimize lab processes, and guide faculty in integrating these technologies into research.
• Strategic Development: Establish strategies for lab growth and technological advancement; identify and introduce emerging automation and AI tools to expand CTP?s research capabilities.
• Operational Continuity: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, SOPs, and training protocols to ensure seamless lab operation and staff knowledge transfer.
• Compliance and Safety Management: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols; maintain updated SOPs and risk assessments to secure a safe working environment.

Candidates must hold PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with a Minimum 5 years? experience with robotics, automation systems, and artificial intelligence applications in a research context. Proficiency in programming languages relevant to AI and robotics (e.g., Python, LabView, Matlab, C/C++). Demonstrated knowledge in data science and machine learning techniques for automation and robotics. 

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a research lab.
• Background in robotics lab setup, motion capture systems, and complex research project management.
• Expertise in CAD, PCB design, and electronics manufacturing.

Skills and Abilities

• Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
• Advanced problem-solving in AI, robotics, and automation for research applications.
• Ability to translate complex research needs into practical lab solutions.
• Effective communicator, able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
