Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist will play a significant role in a collaborative research project between our academic lab and a pharmaceutical company through a Sponsored Research Agreement (SRA). The Research Specialist will be advised by senior staff and the principal investigator; however, day-to-day initiative in moving the research project forward is expected. The project will involve in vivo work (experience with mouse models is required) and wet-lab bench work (e.g. flow cytometry, tissue culture). At a broad level, the goal of the SRA is to test novel inhibitors of signaling pathways in murine models of cancers and to understand the immunological changes in the tumor microenvironment.
Position is contingent upon funding.

Job Responsibilities

Research Specialist A

The Research Specialist A will predominantly work in either the lab or animal facilities to perform cancer research projects, including tissue culture, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and in vivo experiments. The Research Specialist A will be directly advised by senior staff and senior students and will be trained either within the lab or via the University Laboratory Animal Resources training staff. They will also conduct independent reading, data analysis, and present their work to the PI and lab.

Research Specialist B

The Research Specialist B will perform all work listed under the Research Specialist A but will additionally be involved in the design, execution, and analysis of sequencing projects, such as CRISPR screens, barcoding libraries, or single cell based sequencing approaches.

Qualifications
Research Specialist A

• Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  
• Some experience with animal handling is required, and experience with murine tumor models is a strong plus
  

Research Specialist B

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  
• Prior experience with these specific technologies is not required, though general molecular biology experience is needed, and experience in programming or working with large datasets is a benefit.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
