Assistant Athletic Trainer

Responsibilities:
This is a 9-month position contracted to work August - April.

1. Provide athletic training services for the College's athletic department including attendance at scheduled team practices and home contests during the regular and post season.
2. Provide care for injured athletes and work directly with the appropriate physician and head coach to determine when it is medically safe for an ill or injured athlete to return to competition.
3. Operate and maintain a training room.
4. Perform record-keeping and documentation in relation to athletic department operations and equipment.
5. Work in conjunction with coaches to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition, and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
6. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education and or Training and Experience - Bachelor's degree in a health related field.

Licensing Requirements - BOC certification, State license, CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

Knowledge - Familiarity with NJCAA governing rules, Understanding of medical diagnosis, Symptom evaluation and working with medical professionals, Basic principles and practices of health maintenance and sports injury prevention, Basic concepts and methods of athletic training program management, Budgetary principles, Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices, Filing and record-keeping principles, Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations, Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment,

Skills - Implement athletic training program and procedures, monitoring injury care plans and assisting with rehabilitation, monitoring athletic facility and activity area safety conditions, Organizing and maintaining files, records and program documentation, Providing customer service, Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications, Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Machine, Tools, Equipment and Software - Various office equipment (computer, fax, copier, scanner, and phone system), whirlpool, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, injury tracking software, Microsoft Office Suite
