The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP), University of Washington, seeks a pathologist as Open Rank on the Clinical Practice Track, at a 1.0 FTE, to join our Division of Dermatopathology. The position will provide interpretation of dermatopathology-related tissue biopsies, excisions, and frozen sections (where applicable), and signout dermatopathology cases, in addition to providing consultative services of dermatopathology cases, both in house and external.

This position will recommend clinically appropriate advanced diagnostic testing such as molecular and genetic studies, and communicate with referring providers regarding the clinical significance of laboratory findings. Additional responsibilities will include the teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students.

The Clinical Practice track encompasses faculty whose primary focus is on the clinical and educational mission of the Department. Faculty in this track spend the majority of their time in clinical activities with significant interaction with learners (students, post-docs, residents, fellows) as part of their clinical work, and they may also have significant administrative and leadership roles in the Department. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. The initial period for the Professor of Clinical Practice appointment will be 3 years. Multi-year renewal of the faculty appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the department, availability of resources, and in accordance with university policy and procedure governing reappointment. This position is full time and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025, but is flexible.

The base salary range for this position will be: $19,921/month to $34,692/month ($239,048/annual - $416,304/annual) and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Candidates must possess an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent); an MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable; be Board-eligible or board-certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology); and be Board-eligible or board-certified by ABP in Dermatopathology by the date of the appointment start date. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
