Job Purposes::
The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as school counselor for the new K-5 elementary school.
Required Qualifications::
- Master's Degree completed by August 1, 2025
- Licensed School Counselor in Ohio or able to obtain alternative license by August 1, 2025
- Excellent written and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications::
- Two or more years experience as an elementary school counselor
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Academic – 40%
Conduct Individual meetings with students and parents
Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs
Participate in team meetings with teachers
Individual and Small Group Counseling – 30%
Conduct individual counseling with students/parents
Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members
Plan and lead small group counseling sessions
Administrative Support and Program Development – 15%
Testing and Analysis – 10%
Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing
Professional/Program Development – 5%
Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post-graduate courses
In conjunction with the middle and high school counselors and administration, plan and evaluate the school counseling program, grades K-12
Individual and Small Group Counseling – 30%
Administrative Support and Program Development – 15%
Testing and Analysis – 10%
Professional/Program Development – 5%
Working Conditions::
Length of contract is one year contingent upon funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
This position is State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) eligible.
