Description:

This position supports the public services functions of the University Libraries through the effective management of student and staff employees, participation in the reference desk rotation, and customer service, network and user support assistance.

1. Hire, train, supervise, and schedule student workers to provide user assistance and customer service.
2. Participate in the reference desk rotation, providing reference assistance to library users.
3. Participate in service desk rotation (circulation and reserves) and resolve public service issues.
4. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Library Specialist(s) and/or staff.
5. Work with Library Systems (computing and networking) staff to identify and resolve problems in public computing services; may also work with integrated library system (ILS) staff to resolve ILS issues.
6. Participate as a member of the Libraries' Public Workstations Committee to establish and review policies on public computing services.
7. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.

The Library Manager assists the Head of Acquisitions and Resource Sharing in the administration of UH Libraries' collections budget. This position requires collaboration with colleagues across the organization and external vendor partners, and coordination with multiple parties to resolve complex issues. Daily use of the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Peoplesoft is an integral component of this position.

Duties Specific to This Position:
- Assists with setting and monitoring annual budget allocations in the Ex Libris Alma library services platform (LSP).
- Processes payments for library collections and collections services managed by Acquisitions and Resource Sharing.
- Reviews procedures for compliance with State and University policy.
- Reconciles the department’s library services platform records with PeopleSoft transactions.
- Oversees the preparation of financial documents; reviews financial documents for accuracy and availability of funds.
- Generates scheduled and ad hoc Libraries collections financial reports with University, Libraries, and vendor financial platforms.
- Assists the department head and Libraries administration with financial analysis and cost projections.
- Assists with preparation of license agreements for entry into the contract management system.

Required Qualifications Specific to This Position:
- Experience working in library acquisitions or collections management
- Experience working with Ex Libris Alma library services platform
- Experience placing orders with library subscription agents for electronic journals
- Experience working in Peoplesoft
