THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN (20 HOURS PER WEEK)

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Administrative Associate 2 is the first point of contact for patients at the UT Hearing & Speech Center. This position performs patient admissions and registration, patient financial services and data entry, specified routine duties such as greeting patients, answering routine inquiries, and general office support activities as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Greets and checks in patients, answers phones, processes referrals, and schedules appointments.

2. Reviews new patient paperwork for proper completion and updates existing information in the patient management system.

3. Processes patient payments and posts to account.

4. Verifies patient identity and insurance coverage.

5. Matches purchase agreements after the order has been placed for new hearing aids or repairs and files a copy in the patient chart (EMR) and the vendor folder.

6. Processes referrals for scheduling and tracking.

7. Works with insurance companies and other agencies to obtain benefit verification and authorizations for services including new hearing aids and hearing aid repairs.

8. Orders prescribed hearing aids from manufacturers.

9. Schedules follow-up appointments.

10. Answers phones timely and professional.

11. Matches invoices to logged information and routes invoices for payment.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.
